In the mid-80s, Goldman was introduced to theatrical impresario Roger Rothman, a producer of traveling musical and comedy revues, by his coke dealer Sharlene Greenberg (aka Lane Jacobi). Rothman was trying to break into the film industry with a movie about a mythical Chicago secret society, the Assam Tea Club1. The deal arranged on the film The Cardamom Club mandated that Goldman and Rothman establish a production company in which each would own 45% of the film with the remaining 10% split between two other parties. Rothman offered Greenberg (aka Jacobi) a $30,000 finder's fee for her efforts, which she allegedly found unsatisfactory. She supposedly wanted at least part ownership, but Rothman didn’t want to be associated with a drug dealer on paper.
